Firefighters tackle blaze at Sparthbottoms

The fire involves a number of cars and a brick storage unit in a scrapyard
Firefighters spent three hours tackling a scrapyard fire in Sparthbottoms on Friday evening (25 August).
The fire service was called to reports of a fire on Corporation Road at around 7pm.
A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “Five fire engines from Rochdale, Heywood, Littleborough and Chadderton stations quickly attended the scene. The fire involves a number of cars and a brick storage unit in a scrapyard.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels, handheld jets and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.
“Fire crews were in attendance for two hours and 45 minutes.”
