Raise a mug and make a difference for Macmillan's Coffee Morning

Macmillian Coffee Morning
The annual Macmillan Coffee Morning is just around the corner, taking place this year on 29 September.
Local residents are asked to host their own coffee morning on a day that suits them to help make a difference and raise funds for the cancer support charity.
Offering a broad range of cancer information and support services - including a free support line and a community of over 7,700 healthcare professionals - demand for Macmillan’s services is constantly growing, but the charity receives no government funding.
The first Macmillan Coffee Morning took place in 1990, when a handful of people came together for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake and made a donation to Macmillan to help support people living with cancer.
And while coffee morning has grown over the years, the idea remains as simple as ever: come together in support of people living with cancer and raise money for Macmillan.
Last year Macmillan raised £1.4m from the coffee morning events held across the North West, from 5,829 donations, including £534,558 raised in Greater Manchester, to help provide essential support for people living with cancer.
Aggie Sheppard, Macmillan’s Relationship Fundraising Lead for the North of England, explains: “Every penny raised through coffee mornings across the UK helps Macmillan continue to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer live life as fully as they can, whether that’s help with physical concerns, how they feel, money worries, or something different altogether.
“Macmillan relies almost entirely on public donations to make a difference. That is why it has never been more important for people to come together to host a coffee morning to ensure Macmillan can continue to deliver the services that so many people affected by cancer rely on. So, whether you raise a little or a lot, we can still make a difference together.
“Whatever your reason, let’s do coffee morning together.”
