T-Level students celebrating as first cohort at Hopwood Hall College receive results

The first cohort of T-Level students are celebrating after receiving their results from Hopwood Hall College and University Centre.

The college – which has campuses in Middleton and Rochdale – began offering these new technical qualifications in September 2021.

Two years later, the first cohort to complete them were jumping for joy as they opened their results on Thursday (17 August).

This includes Ben Hamlin, who received a Distinction in the T-Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction.

The result means that Ben can now embark on a degree apprenticeship in Building Services with BES Limited.

The 18-year-old, who attended St Anne’s Academy in Middleton, completed a 45-day work placement with the company as part of his T-Level.

Molly Scott-Smith, who completed her placement at Sandbrook Community Primary School, was also over the moon with her result.

The former Matthew Moss High School pupil earned a Distinction in the T-Level in Education and Childcare.

Molly has now accepted a place to study a degree in Primary Education at York St John University.

Meanwhile, course mate Nathan Ashurst was thrilled with his result in the T-Level in Education and Childcare.

The course has allowed him to get the ball rolling with his career after securing a role as an apprentice Disability Football Coach at Rochdale AFC Community Trust.

While Nathan will be making waves in his hometown, T-Level in Digital student Bailey Bradshaw will be moving much further afield.

He’s proving just how far a T-Level can take someone after accepting a place to study Ethical Hacking almost 300 miles away at Abertay University in Dundee.

 

 

Hopwood Hall College’s own University Centre has also proven to be a popular destination for T-Level learners and those studying other vocational programmes.

This includes Lauren Eddowes, who received two Distinctions and a Distinction* in the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management.

The 26-year-old – who formerly worked as a senior healthcare assistant before returning to education – will now progress to study the HND in Animal Management at Hopwood’s University Centre.

Lauren plans to become “the next David Attenborough” and is aspiring towards a career managing nature reserves or writing conservation law for the United Nations.

“Whatever route they choose to embark upon, they’ve certainly set a brilliant example for future students!”

Ben Hamlin said: “I found T-Levels to be so beneficial! For me the best part was that the college works with so many employers, like BES Limited.

“The careers team was so supportive in helping me to secure my placement with BES Limited, who have now become my employer and are funding my degree apprenticeship.

“In fact, the first person I told when I got my results today was my line manager!”
