Cryers Butchers in Littleborough has supported a local homeless street kitchen with a bumper donation for a summer street barbecue.
Stephen Bamford, from Cryers, donated 200 burgers, 200 sausages and buns to the Two Brews group, run by John Shaw.
The group goes out each night in two different locations to set up a pop-up kitchen, serving hot food and drinks, clothes and signposts people to services for support.
John said the group is named as such as “rough sleepers always ask for two brews.”
He added: “Several times a year we do a pop-up event to make people feel connected to the real world. At Christmas we have entertainment, gifts, Christmas dinner and Santa.
“We do the same at Easter and in the summer we have a street barbecue in St Peter’s Square in Manchester, with local musicians and other acts attending.
“Little things think a barbecue and social get together help our street people’s mental health. I needed support and in an instant Cryers said ‘yes’ and gave more than I asked for.”
