A free workshop aimed at debunking common myths surrounding the process of making a will was held last month by Springhill Hospice, in collaboration with AST Hampsons solicitors.
The workshop addressed the misconceptions associated with making a will, such as the belief that it is expensive, complicated, and time-consuming.
Springhill partners with a number of different solicitor firms across the borough for it’s “Make a Will” campaign in which solicitors waive their fee for writing a basic will, in return for a suggested donation to the charity. AST Hampsons is the firm which is offering wills during August in exhange for a donation to the hospice.
Participants had the opportunity to interact with experienced solicitors from AST Hampsons, Louise Salisbury and Yasmin Sadiq, who answered questions and provided expert guidance on the will-making process.
The top tips for making a will were shared with attendees, giving them insights and information to plan for their future and ensure their loved ones, including pets, will be taken care of.
"We are delighted with the positive response we received from the public," said Rachel Cutler, spokesperson for Springhill Hospice.
"The workshop aimed to dispel common myths and encourage individuals of all ages to consider the importance of making a will. We are grateful to AST Hampsons Solicitors for their expertise and support in making this event a success."
About Springhill Hospice's Make a Will campaign
During the month of August, AST Hampsons is offering to waive the fee they charge for their “standard will” writing services in return for a donation to Springhill Hospice and potentially leave a legacy in the will.
Suggested donation amounts are £100 for a single will and £150 for a mirror will. Each donation will provide much needed support to Springhill Hospice, allowing them to continue to deliver specialist treatment to patients and their families in the borough.
