Community organisations join with staff to celebrate Eid at Rochdale Infirmary

Date published: 10 May 2023

It was party time at Rochdale Infirmary last month with hospital colleagues gathering to celebrate Eid in the Wellbeing Room alongside community organisations.

Rochdale Care Organisation’s Chief Officer, Steve Taylor, was joined by Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust’s (NCA) Chairman, Prof Eileen Fairhurst, and representatives from Rochdale community groups Deeplish Community Centre and Aspire 2 Inspire.

The hospital’s Wellbeing Room was transformed with balloons and celebratory bunting, and food and drink was laid on so everyone could celebrate in style.

Eid marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Prof Eileen Fairhurst, NCA Chairman, said: “This event was great because it gave us an opportunity to recognise the communities we serve, to meet each other and talk, and to have a shared celebration.”

Sohail Ahmad, Deeplish Community Centre Manager, said: “It was a great event and a fantastic opportunity to meet staff from the hospital, and talk about how we can support each other to improve health outcomes for the people of Rochdale and the surrounding area.”

Kalsoom khanum, Director at Aspire 2 Inspire, said: “The event was good, and it was nice to see so many people attend. It was great to be able to network with staff from the hospital and discuss how we can work together to improve health and wellbeing in the local community.”
