Share your views on care in nursing and residential homes in the Rochdale borough

Date published: 07 April 2023

Healthwatch Rochdale is asking local people to share their views on nursing and residential homes in the Rochdale borough as they prepare to resume their Enter & View programme in care homes.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic Healthwatch Rochdale carried out an Enter & View programme that ran over two years. The programme allowed Enter & View representatives to go into the home and observe the delivery of care whilst also speaking with residents, friends and family members, staff and management.

The programme saw Healthwatch Rochdale working in partnership with care homes and those that use them to help shape the delivery of service. The Enter & View programme gave Healthwatch Rochdale a good understanding of the level of care and service that was being provided in care homes.

Reports and recommendations were made to help share good practice between care homes and help raise standards with some homes being extremely positive and proactive in implementing those recommendations.

Kate Jones, Healthwatch Rochdale CEO, said: “We are really excited to restart our Enter & View programme in local care homes. Our previous programme was really successful with some great partnership working and changes made to service.

“In preparation for our upcoming programme of visits we really want to hear local people’s opinions on the care given. This will help us plan which homes to visit and the things we need to be focusing on.

“We want to hear the good stories as well as what you think needs to improve. You can share your views with us anonymously if preferred and you can always speak to us in confidence”.
