A dog owner has been fined after multiple complaints about their pets barking.
The council issued fines after receiving several complaints about dogs barking on New Barn Lane, Rochdale.
Even though many letters were sent to the owners, the complaints continued. Officers then installed noise-recording equipment in the complainant’s house.
It was found the noise constituted a statutory nuisance and a noise abatement notice was served under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
However, the service continued to receive complaints from neighbours. Further noise-recording equipment was installed, and it was found that there was a breach of the noise abatement notice and the decision was made to prosecute the owner of the dogs.
The owner pleaded guilty to breaching the noise abatement notice and was fined £1,280.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We take noise nuisance very seriously and will do what we can to prevent this annoyance.”
The spokesperson confirmed the council has not received any more complaints.
