A man was cut free from a car and taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision on Albert Royds Street on Saturday night (4 March).

The three-car collision saw emergency services attend the incident, which saw firefighters free a man using hydraulic cutting equipment and lighting equipment. After being treated by paramedics, he was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 12am, two fire engines from Rochdale central fire station along with the Technical Response Unit from Ashton were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on Albert Royds Street, Rochdale.”

“The crews arrived quickly at scene and worked to make the vehicles safe. Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment and lighting equipment to rescue a man from one of the vehicles who was then treated by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.”

“Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and twenty minutes.”
