Eight-year-old Heidi donates hair to Little Princess Trust and raises hundreds in the process

Date published: 25 February 2023

An eight-year-old girl from Middleton has raised over £750 for the Little Princess Trust.

Heidi Monaghan donated a whopping 16 inches of hair to the charity on Saturday 18 February after her waist-length hair was chopped into a bob.

Her mum Sherie said: “Heidi came home from school and told us she wanted to cut her hair and donate it to children who are poorly and don’t have any. We had a look and she chose the Little Princess Trust. We ordered a fundraising pack and went from there.”

Sherie added: “To think of this just makes me so proud of how empathetic she is already. She’s super excited at the thought of making another child happy.

“Thank you for everyone who donated and we are leaving donations open for another two weeks if anyone else would like to contribute.”

So far Heidi has raised an impressive £754 for the charity, plus gift aid, which provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as alopecia.

The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Donations can still be made via Just Giving.
