Date published: 28 January 2023

Work has started on a new housing development in south Heywood, forming part of the council's wider South Heywood Masterplan.

The site, which is located on Manchester Road in south Heywood, near the Birch Hotel, is 11.6 acres in size with housebuilder Bellway providing a range of three, four and five bedroom homes.

Known as Hopwood Meadows, the development offers a mix of semi-detached and detached homes with prices starting from £314,995.

Grace Yarlett, sales director at Bellway, said: “It is great to be part of the South Heywood Masterplan and we are proud to contribute and provide high quality new build homes in this new community in Rochdale.

“The plans for Hopwood Meadow are superb and we are confident the design and specification of our homes will attract buyers.

“With the first few sales already secured, we continue to look forward to welcoming potential purchasers to site to learn more about Bellway.”

In addition to the new development, Bellway has made several significant contributions to the locality including £2,480,000 towards a link road, £667,950 for public open space, £720,720 to education, £191,880 towards the local bus service and bus stops, £124,800 towards primary school land value and £31,200 for a sports pitch.
