A Heywood man has been charged with the rape of a woman on Sunday 11 December 2022 in Rochdale town centre.

He was also charged with a sexual assault that occurred in September, of a 17-year-old girl.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Salford Magistrates Court today (Monday 19 December 2022).

DS Steven Gilliland of Rochdale CID said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who identified the man in the photograph that we issued to the media.

“Because of this he has been arrested and charged and will now go before the courts.”
