Members of the Rochdale District Freemasons have donated their annual Christmas hampers to patients at Springhill Hospice.
These hampers form a major part of the support given to Springhill patients receiving care in their homes and is a highlight of the festive period for many.
Through the hard work of the district social committee, putting on regular fundraising events and initiatives such as the NYE Ball and Christmas card scheme, the local Freemasons are able to donate between 40 and 50 hampers to Springhill each year.
On Monday 12 December, district charity steward John Taylor and other members visited Springhill Hospice in Rochdale to deliver the annual Christmas hampers.
Mr Taylor said: “It is fantastic to be back at Springhill again this year to deliver these hampers. Seeing them all prepared and ready to go out to patients really makes me thankful of the social committee's hard work and the ongoing support of all the brethren in the district, without whom this would not be possible.”
Sam Wells, chief executive of Springhill, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Rochdale District Freemasons back to Springhill again this year with these fantastic hampers. Every year, they bring a smile to the faces of the recipients and help to make what can be a difficult time of year a little bit easier for our patients.”
