Gwen Tyler raised £700 for the Royal British Legion and John Swinden doubled her efforts
A Wardle veteran who served in the Army for seven years has raised £1,400 for the Royal British Legion.
Gwen Tyler completed the 121-mile walking challenge for the Royal British Legion throughout November, raising £700 for the cause – which was then doubled by jeweller John Swinden, of JD Alexander.
She said: “I’m ex-forces so it’s a very important charity to me. I also jumped out of a plane to raise money a few years ago for them.
“They’ve helped me out very recently so wanted to pay back.”
During her service, Gwen was posted in Colchester, Germany and Iraq.
John added: “I was very impressed at what Gwen did; I thought it was the least I could do to help and support her by contributing to this great cause.”
The 121-mile challenge is an annual fundraiser for the Royal British Legion, which supports service men and women, and ex-serving personnel as well as their families.
