A man wanted for over two years after stealing 250lbs of chicken in Rochdale has been arrested on a driving offence in Bolton.
The arrest came as part of GMP Transport Unit’s roadside operation, Operation Considerate, in Bolton on Thursday (20 October).
As part of the day of action, police removed nine uninsured vehicles from the roads and reported the drivers and issued 21 traffic offence reports for offences like using a mobile phone, no seatbelt etc.
The man had been pulled into the check site for similar road offences – where police were surprised to discover he had been wanted for two years after stealing 250lbs of chicken from Rochdale, worth £1,100.
He was arrested and taken to custody, with officers joking he would be in a ‘fowl’ mood, adding: “No matter, straight to interview and we shall see what he says about a charge of poultry with intent to supply.”
