Sexual predator jailed after grooming Rochdale girl

Date published: 21 October 2022

A sexual predator from West Yorkshire has been jailed for five years and six months for offences committed against a 14-year-old girl from Rochdale.

Shaheed Rashid, 40, of Bradford, was sentenced for grooming, two charges of supplying a Class B drug and serious sexual assault.

Rashid, a former NHS computer engineer, met the girl through an online video-calling application in October 2021.

He then spent a number of weeks grooming her before travelling to Rochdale on two separate occasions, before seriously assaulting her sexually at Balderstone Park.

Rashid was sentenced at Minshull Crown Court on 18 October.
