Springfield Park Nursing Home opens own tearoom for residents and visitors

Date published: 11 October 2022

A tearoom for residents and their families opened at Springfield Park Nursing Home on Monday (10 October).

Gracie’s Tearoom was officially opened by the Mayor Ali Ahmed who cut the ribbon before enjoying a cup of tea with the home’s residents.

Ladies wore hats collected by activities lead, Adele Eccles, whilst one of the seniors made a cake for all to enjoy.

To finish the day, all enjoyed a performance by Paul ‘Peaky’ Shelby, who the residents saw recently at a vintage tea dance at Touchstones.

Adele said: “We had a wonderful day. The Mayor was really nice and had a chat with the ladies and gents.

“Our next party is a fancy dress one for Halloween; the home’s already decorated. Danny Kay who comes to see us regularly will be joining us that day, singing.

“We’ve also started up a ‘gentlemen’s afternoon’ where we play snooker and dominoes and have pork pie, pickle and a pint. I’m hoping to get a dart board soon too and we have already bought our gents a table-top football.”

The tearoom is only open to visitors of Springfield Park Nursing Home to keep residents safe.
