Staff and clients from Salon .45 in Heywood climbed Snowdon
Staff and clients from Salon .45 in Heywood have raised over £3,000 for Springhill Hospice in memory of the owner's mother Lesley Hawkins.
Salon owner Abbie Hawkins, three of her staff members and 20 clients raised the funds by climbing Snowdon on Sunday (2 October). The oldest walker was 60 and youngest just 11 years old.
Jemma Hopkinson, who works at the salon, said the climb came in memory of Abbie’s mum, Lesley, who was cared for by Springhill before her death in 2018. Lesley had been assistant principal of Hopwood Hall College and had worked there since 1999.
“Supporting the hospice has become important to Abbie after the care her mum received whilst there,” Jemma said.
Abbie added: “This place is truly special, the staff who looked after my mum and us as a family did an amazing job every day and night.
“Along with keeping my mum’s legacy shining supporting the hospice is something we all want to continue doing.
“We are already planning our next one. We all had a great day.”
