Man detained by police taken to hospital after hit and run

A man has been taken to hospital after being detained by police following a fail-to-stop collision on Ramsay Street, Rochdale.
The vehicle was followed by police for a short time before it was abandoned on a section of Yorkshire Street near Elliott Street.
Both the police and fire service were on scene, with the fire service cleaning up a related oil spill on Yorkshire Street.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At 11.40am we spotted a vehicle that failed to stop after colliding with a HGV on Ramsay Street, Rochdale.
"The vehicle was abandoned by the driver a short time later on Halifax Road.
"A man was detained but was taken to hospital as a precaution before he could be brought to custody."
The collision closed a section of Yorkshire Street from St Mary's Gate for a few hours.
