Local councillors to take on hospice Firewalk challenge

Date published: 07 October 2022

Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Ali Ahmed, Councillor Peter Winkler and Councillor Janet Whitehead, Mayor of Whitworth are set to tackle the adrenaline pumping Firewalk challenge to support Springhill Hospice in October, with hopes of helping to raise funds for the hospice.

Hoping to drum up some friendly competition between the boroughs and raise funds, Councillor Whitehead said “I’m really looking forward to it, so come along and support me. I’ve heard that Councillor Ali Ahmed is also taking on the Firewalk, I’m sure I can do a better job than him!”

Similarly, Councillor Peter Winkler said, “This fantastic charity does so much amazing work looking after patients who are end of life and their families, so it’s a really worthwhile cause.”

If you want to tackle the Firewalk challenge with the courageous group of councillors on Saturday 22 October, visit www.springhill.org.uk/firewalk to register.
