New community brass band seeks players

Date published: 07 September 2022

Archer Brass, a newly formed non-profit community brass band based in Middleton, is looking for brass and percussion players to swell its ranks.

A division of the very successful Middleton Band organisation, Archer Brass was born out of the re-building of the former Middleton Youth band after the pandemic took its toll on membership. The all-new Archer brass still caters for young brass players and percussionists but has opened its doors much wider to any brass or percussion player of any age or ability.

Musical Director Louise Crane said: "We are delighted to reopen our doors as a more inclusive band.

"For years we have welcomed young players and, while we have achieved lots of success along the way, it hasn't always been clear that older players are also very welcome too. We are now delighted to be relaunching the band and welcoming players of any standard and any age to develop their musical skills and join in making group music together.

"We are particularly looking forward to welcoming lapsed players who may have played in the past to consider returning to brass playing in a fun and no pressure environment."

Archer Brass has immediate vacancies across the band for all brass and percussion players of any age (upwards from the age of seven) and also has instruments ready and waiting to be played which can be loaned from the band, free of charge.

Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 6.30pm until 7.30pm at St Stephen's Church Hall, High Street, Middleton.
