Rochdale Inner Wheel raises £1,100 for Springhill Hospice

Date published: 02 August 2022

A cheque for £1,100 has been given to Springhill Hospice by women’s group Rochdale Inner Wheel.

The money was raised at a charity lunch at the Bellavista Restaurant earlier this year.

Entertainment for the event was provided by Divas in Denial, two comedic sopranos who perform a range of disco and Motown hits.

The local hospice was the chosen charity throughout the 2021/22 presidential year of Janice Bray. It requires £3.2million a year – or £8,928 every day – to remain open.

The cheque was presented to the hospice on Wednesday (27 July).

Rochdale Inner Wheel is a women's group, part of a global organisation, which exists to promote friendship and to fundraise for local, national and international charities. It is closely linked to the Rotary humanitarian effort.

Hospice chief executive Sam Wells said: "We are so grateful to Rochdale Inner Wheel for their amazing support. The hospice, like everyone, is suffering the effects of the cost of living crisis so this support is more needed than ever."
