Door damaged in attempted burglary at Star Tree Studio

Date published: 02 February 2022

The Star Tree Studio in Littleborough has become the latest target of an attempted burglary, after the door was damaged on Tuesday night (1 February).

The glass pane of the door was smashed, causing hundreds of pounds of damage to the art and craft studio in Hare Hill Park. A youth is understood to have been disturbed by two members of the public at around 9.45pm.

The incident is being treated by GMP as an attempted burglary and ward councillor Janet Emsley is looking into the possibility of shutters for the building, which is in a conservation area.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information can report it online or by using our LiveChat service at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The Star Tree Studio moved to the former Gig House Barn at Hare Hill Park last year, after eight years of business on Victoria Street. It is a public studio space that provides fun, accessible art, craft and sensory activities, classes, workshops for children and their parents/carers and adults.
