Crompton and Royton Golf Club's lady captain makes £1,700 donation to Springhill Hospice

Date published: 06 February 2022

The lady captain at Crompton and Royton Golf Club has made a donation to Springhill Hospice of £1,780 at the end of her term at the club.

Anne Richardson, who has been lady captain at the golf club for the last year, selected Springhill Hospice as her charity of the year. Although the impact of Covid has made its impression on her time as captain at the club, she was able to still raise money with different events and competitions.

One of Anne’s highlights during her time as lady captain was hosting the Oldham Ladies Association Joan Hirst Charity Cup Competition. The money raised at this event was generously donated to Anne’s chosen charity.

Anne was supported by her fellow members at the club, particularly the ladies section. This has allowed her to have a really successful year and make the donation to the hospice.

Vicki Murray, corporate and partnerships fundraiser at Springhill Hospice, was presented with a cheque for the hospice.

She said: “On behalf of Springhill Hospice, I would just like to say a massive thank you to Anne for all her hard work during her time in office. She has raised an incredible amount of £1,780 for the hospice which is astounding in what it has been a very tough year battling with Covid restrictions.”
