Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To provide a safe and convenient place to park away team supporter coaches on match days at the Crown Oil Arena. To safely vacate supporters away from the stadium.

This order will be implemented on match and event days at the Crown Oil Arena, as required. The times of the road closures and restrictions will vary, however, appropriate signage will be put in place.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary one-way working on Ings Lane in a northerly direction along the westerly carriageway, from its junction with Edenfield Road to its junction with Rooley Moor Road. Vehicles won't be able to travel along Ings Lane in a southerly direction from its junction with Rooley Moor Road to its junction with Edenfield Road.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Lisbon Street onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Great Flatt onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning left from Innes Close onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Cutgate Road onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Wilbutts Lane, from its junction with Sandy Lane to its junction with Churchill Street.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Phoenix Street, from its junction with the easterly side of Ings Lane for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time on Ings Lane, both sides from its junction with Rooley Moor Road to its junction with Edenfield Road. 

Alternative route:

  • The alternative route for vehicles along Wilbutts Lane is Sandy Lane, Edenfield Road and Churchill Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles along Phoenix Street is Churchill Street and Rooley Moor Road.
  • The alternative route for vehicles along Ings Lane (southbound) is Ings lane (northbound), Caldershaw Road and Edenfield Road (A680).

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 – Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair a BT telecommunications cable in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 11 January 2022 – Tuesday 1 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Belgrave Street, from its junction with Rooley Moor for a distance of 15 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Rooley Moor Road, Blair Street and Thrush Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair damaged subway walls.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 18 January 2022 – Tuesday 8 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of the Cheetham Street subway under St Mary's Gate to pedestrians, from its junction with Cheetham Street to its junction with High Street.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for pedestrians is High Street, Union Street, Rope Street, Whitehall Street, Queen Street, Duke Street, Whitworth Road, John Street, Yorkshire Street and Cheetham Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair water utilities, fire hydrant and valve box lids in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 15 February 2022 – Wednesday 16 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working affecting southbound traffic on John Street, from its junction with Halifax Road to a point 70 metres in a southerly direction. Northbound traffic won't be affected.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for traffic travelling westbound on Yorkshire Street (A58) towards John Street is St Mary's Gate, Manchester Road, Drake Street, Milnrow Road and Molesworth Street.
  • The alternative route for traffic travelling eastbound on Yorkshire Street (A58) towards John Street is Yorkshire Street and Entwisle Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to install a new BT telecommunications cable in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 24 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working affecting southbound traffic on John Street, from its junction with Halifax Road to a point 89 metres in a southerly direction. Northbound traffic won't be affected.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for traffic travelling westbound on Yorkshire Street (A58) towards John Street is St Mary's Gate, Manchester Road, Drake Street, Milnrow Road and Molesworth Street.
  • The alternative route for traffic travelling eastbound on Yorkshire Street (A58) towards John Street is Yorkshire Street and Entwisle Road.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: for works vehicle parking and storage as part of work to install new water mains and connections.

Expected start and finish: Monday 7 February 2022 – Tuesday 22 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along the east side of Long Street, from a point 5 metres south of its junction with Church Brow to a point 58 metres south of its junction with Church Brow. 
Alternative routes: not applicable.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to remove redundant telecommunications equipment using a crane.

Expected start and finish:

  • 10pm, Sunday 20 February 2022 – 5am, Monday 21 February 2022
  • 10pm, Monday 21 February 2022 – 5am, Tuesday 22 February 2022 

Restriction and location:

  • One-way working in a south westerly direction along Oldham Road, from its junction with the roundabout at Middleton Way, Park Road, Oldham Road and Manchester New Road to its junction with the roundabout at Assheton Way, Oldham Road and Ashton Lane. Vehicles travelling north east won't be affected.
  • Vehicles will be prohibited from turning left from the roundabout at Assheton Way, Oldham Road and Ashton Lane onto Oldham Road in a south westerly direction.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Assheton Way, Long Street, Rochdale Road, Hollin Lane, Middleton Road, Coronation Avenue, Manchester Road, Heywood Old Road, Manchester Old Road, Middleton Way and Manchester New Road.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: to repair a leaking water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 20 January 2022 – Thursday 10 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Bank Street, for its entire length. 
Alternative routes: there is no alternative route for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Heywood
Reason: to fix a street light and provide space for work vehicle parking.

Expected start and finish: 8am–5pm, Sunday 13 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working. Vehicles won't be able to travel in a south easterly direction along Market Place, from a point 20 metres south east of its junction with Bamford Road to its junction with LCpl Stephen Shaw MC Way. Vehicles travelling in a north westerly direction won't be affected.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles travelling south east along Market Place and wanting to continue along Market Place, LCpl Stephen Shaw MC Way and Church Street is York Street and Rochdale Road.

Area: Heywood
Reason: to facilitate a water connection from the existing main.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 22 February 2022 – Thursday 24 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Adelaide Street, from a point 39 metres east of its junction with John Street for a distance of 65 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Adelaide Street, Chapel Street, York Street (A58) and Queen's Park Road.
