Whitworth dad Chris Newall embarks on 365-day running challenge to raise money for neonatal charity SANDS

Date published: 21 January 2022

A Whitworth dad-of-two is set to embark on a 365-day running challenge to raise money for a neonatal charity.

Chris Newall, 41, will begin his mammoth task on January 31 and is hoping to run around 4745km to raise money for SANDS, which provides support to anyone affected by the death of a baby.

Chris and his wife Alison suffered emotional heartbreak through a number of miscarriages before their sons Isaac, now five, and Jonah, now two were born.

The effort will see Chris run around 13km every single day for a whole year, in what he describes as his ‘biggest ever challenge’.

However, this certainly isn’t his first attempt at something like this, as he has previously raised over £1,000 for Samaritans after running 105.5 miles in 48 hours last year.

Chris will be posting updates on his run on Strava, Garmin Connect and social media if you want to follow his journey.
