Mental health support group to host walk around lake on 27 December for anyone struggling

Date published: 24 December 2021

A local mental health support group for men is organising a walk – open to anyone – around Hollingworth Lake on Monday 27 December.

The Rochdale Andy’s Man Club is hosting the walk to help people who may be struggling over the festive period.

The local Andy’s Man Club is run by Brad Gartland, who also set up the Stephen Gartland Foundation in 2017 after his father took his own life.

Brad said: "We know how hard and isolating Christmas can be for most people, and we know how good getting outside and meeting people is for our mental health.

“So it’s to encourage people to get outside, meet people, and realise that they’re not alone.”

Anyone wishing to take part should meet at the Beach Pub car park (OL15 0DD) at 10am on Monday 27 December.

Andy’s Man Club is a registered charity in England and Wales and runs every Monday (except bank holidays) from 7pm - 9pm at Mayfield Sports Centre, Keswick Street, Castleton, OL11 3AG. The next session will be on 10 January.

If you would like to attend Andy’s Man Club, please email info@andysmanclub.co.uk or message the group's  Facebook page.
