PCSO cooks over 50 Christmas dinners for elderly residents

Date published: 26 December 2021

A local PCSO has cooked over 50 Christmas dinners for elderly Castleton residents on Monday (20 December).

PCSO Danielle Metcalfe cooked Christmas dinner for over 50 residents, who had been identified as in need of some TLC after the last few months.

The dinners were served up by Danielle, PC Joe Lucas, PCSO Peter Marshall and Sue Simpson in the kitchen of Castleton Community Centre before being distributed by police and community centre committee members including Councillor Billy Sheerin.

Councillor Sheerin said: “When I was young, policemen used to help elderly people cross the road, and if they knocked on their door, they were in trouble.

“Nowadays, if they knock on their door at Christmas time is likely to be ‘hello, hello, hello, it’s Christmas dinner time, with all the trimmings’ – well, it is in Castleton!

“Many thanks Danielle from everyone; your endeavour was really appreciated by all involved.”
