Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to promote social distancing measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Expected finish: Sunday 2 January 2022, or until such measures are deemed unnecessary.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Packer Street, from its junction with South Parade.
Alternative route: The Esplanade, Manchester Road, Drake Street, School Lane and Church Lane.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to enable an archaeological dig to take place.

Start and expected finish: 1 July 2021 - 31 January 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Packer Street, from its junction with South Parade up to and including its junction with Nelson Street. And temporary closure of Fleece Street, from its junction with King Street to its junction with Packer Street.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair the carriageway.

Start and expected finish: 15 November - Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes: Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Start and expected finish: 7.30am - 5.30pm each day from 15 November 2021 - Sunday 19 December 2021.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Hill Top Drive, from its junction with Balderstone Road for a distance of 1,362 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time on both sides of Hill Top Drive, from its junction with Balderstone Road to its junction with Ruskin Road.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site when the restrictions are in place.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to replace a leaking stop tap in the carriageway.

Start and expected finish: 29 November 2021 - Monday 20 December 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Wilkinson Street for its entire length. 
Alternative routes: there are no alternative routes for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to provide space for coach parking for attendees at the Middleton Arena Pantomime event.

Expected start and finish: 8am - 5.30pm each day from Monday 6 - Friday 10 December 2021 and Monday 13 - Friday 17 December 2021.
Restriction and location: prohibition of waiting at any time along Lance Corporal Joel Halliwell VC Way on the south westerly side, from a point 54 metres south east of a point opposite the south easterly kerb line of Old Hall Street for a distance of 52 metres in a south easterly direction. 
Alternative routes: not applicable.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to remove redundant telecoms equipment from a roof using a crane.

Expected start and finish: 10pm, Sunday 5 December - 5am, Monday 6 December 2021 and 10pm, Monday 6 December - 5am, Tuesday 7 December 2021.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary one-way working in a north-easterly direction along Oldham Road, from its junction with the roundabout at Middleton Way, Park Road, Oldham Road and Manchester New Road to its junction with the roundabout at Assheton Way. Vehicles won't be able to travel in a south westerly direction between these points.
  • Temporary prohibition of vehicles taking a left turn from the roundabout at Assheton Way, Oldham Road and Ashton Lane onto Oldham Road in a south westerly direction.

Alternative routes: Assheton Way, Long Street, Rochdale Road, Hollin Lane, Langley Lane, Heywood Old Road, Manchester Old Road, Middleton Way and Manchester New Road.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Start and expected finish: 22 October - Friday 17 December 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of West Starkey Street, for its entire length.
Alternative routes:

  • For vehicles wishing to access Bank Top Street, the alternative route will be Bamford Road, Market Street (A58), Bridge Street (A58) Peel Street and Cherwell Avenue.
  • For vehicles wishing to access Bamford Road, the alternative route will be Bank Top Street, Cherwell Avenue, Peel Street, Bridge Street (A58) and Dawson Street (A58).

Area: Heywood
Reason: to connect a drain to the existing main in the carriageway and work on the footway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 6 December - 6pm, Monday 13 December 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Peel Lane, from a point 22 metres south west of its junction with Tintern Avenue for a distance of 65 metres in a south westerly direction.
Alternative route: Peel Lane, Claybank Street and Furness Avenue.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: to replace a manhole frame and cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am - 3.30pm, Tuesday 14 December 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Temple Lane in Littleborough, from its junction with Moor Road for a distance of 30 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: Barnes Meadows, Todmorden Road and Temple Lane.
