Lime launches 50% off ‘Access’ scheme in Rochdale

The provider of Rochdale’s e-scooter trial has launched an ‘access’ programme, so eligible users can claim unlimited 50% discounts.

Lime, which has schemes in 125 countries worldwide, has now launched ‘Access’ so concession pass holders, key workers, students and job seekers can claim unlimited 50% discounts on their Lime e-scooter rides.

For eligible users, the cost of a 30-minute Lime ride will now be as little as £2.50.

The ‘Access’ programme replaces last year’s Lime Aid initiative, which provided key workers in Greater Manchester with a limited number of free Lime rides during lockdown.

In total, Lime delivered 50,000 free and discounted rides for key workers and Covid-19 vaccine recipients in the last year via its Lime Aid and Ride to Recovery initiatives.

“By launching Access in Greater Manchester, we are ensuring everyone, including local residents, are able to do their bit to tackle air pollution and congestion in cities and this way, we are ensuring our e-scooters never leave anyone behind.”

Lime recently celebrated its one-year anniversary of providing e-scooters in Salford last month, and six months of operation in Rochdale in September, delivering 180,000 e-scooter rides in Greater Manchester.

The initial roll-out in March 2021 saw 100 scooters hit the streets of Rochdale, which reach a top-speed of 12mph. They can only be hired by adults with a full or provisional driving licence, via a special app.
