Six winners of Rochdale Dawah Centre’s photography competition have been announced, each winning an Amazon voucher.

Miranda Webber, Rachel Porter, Lindsey Stott, Rufna Khatun, Awais Hamid and the ‘Where we going, Mummy?’ page were all named as winners on the volunteer group’s social media pages on Monday (1 November).

Each received a £20 Amazon voucher for their winning photo.

The organisation received 15 entries from local residents, each depicting areas of Rochdale. The competition was run to encourage residents to get out and about in Rochdale to improve their health and wellbeing.

Mohammed, of the Rochdale Dawah Centre, said: "We set up this project to help improve the health and wellbeing for the people of Rochdale; the response and feedback has been great."

Rochdale Dawah Centre was established in 2003 by a group of volunteers, offering a range of social support services and educational activities for the local community.

The organisation aims to specifically support the BAME community (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) through wellbeing and support programmes, although people from different faiths and backgrounds use its services.

It works with a range of partner organisations in the area, such as youth projects, mosques, churches and community centres, promoting social cohesion and inclusivity across all age groups.

The group has comprised a list of over 200 things to do in Rochdale, from woodlands, forests and moorlands to parks, reservoirs, play centres and cinemas.
