Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to promote social distancing measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Expected finish: Sunday 2 January 2022, or until such measures are deemed unnecessary.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Packer Street, from its junction with South Parade.
Alternative route: The Esplanade, Manchester Road, Drake Street, School Lane and Church Lane.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to enable an archaeological dig to take place.

Expected start and finish: 1 July 2021 - 31 January 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Packer Street, from its junction with South Parade up to and including its junction with Nelson Street. And temporary closure of Fleece Street, from its junction with King Street to its junction with Packer Street.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to install traffic calming measures and reline the road as a one-way system.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am on Monday 8 November - 5pm, Friday 19 November 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure and prohibition of waiting along Kent Street, for its entire length.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.


Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to repair a defective sewer in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Wednesday 20 October - 7pm, Tuesday 9 November 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of James Andrew Street, from a point 17 metres south of its junction with Norman Street for a distance of 11 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative routes: there is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to use the area as coach parking for the Safe Drive Stay Alive event.

Expected start and finish: 8am–6pm, Monday 15 November - Wednesday 17 November 2021.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary no waiting at any time along Lance Corporal Joel Halliwell VC Way on the south westerly side from a point 54 metres south east of a point opposite the south easterly kerb line of Old Hall Street for a distance of 52 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • Suspend part of the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township) Order 2008) (Amendment) (No.43) Order 2017 - Waiting Limited, 2 Hours, No Return Within 1 Hour - LCpl Joel Halliwell V.C. Way, North Middleton Ward south westerly side from a point 54 metres south east of a point opposite the south easterly kerb line of Old Hall Street for a distance of 52 metres in a south easterly direction.

Alternative route: not applicable.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am, Friday 22 October - 5.30pm, Friday 17 December 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of West Starkey Street, for its entire length.
Alternative routes:

  • For vehicles wishing to access Bank Top Street, the alternative route will be Bamford Road, Market Street (A58), Bridge Street (A58) Peel Street and Cherwell Avenue.
  • For vehicles wishing to access Bamford Road, the alternative route will be Bank Top Street, Cherwell Avenue, Peel Street, Bridge Street (A58) and Dawson Street (A58).

Area: Heywood
Reason: to repair a damaged sewer in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Friday 22 October - 8am, Thursday 11 November 2021.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Adelaide Street, from a point 30 metres west of its junction with Queens Park Road for a distance of 22 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: Queens Park Road, Longford Street and Queen Street.
