Pedestrian fighting for his life after Middleton hit and run

A man has been left fighting for his life after a hit and run in Middleton last night (Sunday 31 October).

The man, 35, was walking his dog on Hollin Lane shortly before 9.15pm when he was hit by a blue BMW 320, which failed to remain at the scene. 

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

A blue BMW 320 was later recovered in the Heywood area and a 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Detective Sergeant Marie Eldred, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A man is fighting for his life after this serious incident and we are following all lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.

"We are hopeful that there are people who were in the area at the time who will have information about this collision that can help assist in our investigation.  

"We are especially keen to speak to people who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage in the vicinity of Hollin Lane in the lead up or directly after the incident."
