Deadline fast approaching to apply for secondary school places

Date published: 28 October 2021

Parents of children who are due to start secondary school in September 2022 only have a few days left to apply for their child’s school place as applications close on Monday 1 November 2021.

Thousands of applications have already come in via the council’s secure online application form, but time is running out so parents who still need to apply must do so soon.

The online system means applications can be made using PCs, smartphones or tablets 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Changes to applications can be made until the deadline closes. Alternatively, applicants can call 0300 303 0340 for help.

Councillor Rachel Massey, cabinet member for children’s services and education at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Missing the deadline for applications can have consequences for families, as it can mean not being allocated a place at your preferred school. I also want to remind parents and carers how important it is to use all preference places. Only putting one will not mean that your child will definitely be allocated a place at that school.”

The deadline for applications is midnight on Monday 1 November 2021, after this a late application must be made and the chances of getting the school of choice are greatly reduced.

Tuesday 1 March 2022 is the national offer day for secondary school places and allocations can be viewed by logging in to the Parent Portal on the council’s website.
