Rochdale and District Mind World Mental Health Day 2021

Date published: 24 October 2021

Rochdale and District Mind held a “fantastic” family event to celebrate World Mental Health Day on Saturday 9 October.

The event at Kirkholt Community Church was opened by entertainer Ian Jenkins with performances from Chorus of Others, Zumba sessions and Skylights Circus Arts.

Henna and face-painting also took place, and food was provided by Mind’s Comple@t Café.

Information stalls were hosted by resources including Turning Point, Thinking Ahead, Caring & Sharing, Andy’s Man Club, Your Trust (formerly Link4Life), HMR Circle, DWP Disability and Living Well.

A quiet area was dedicated to dementia support services with dementia-friendly activities including a stroll around Kirkholt on a ‘memory walk’.

Volunteers also created a Black History month display with artefacts, books and information for the whole community.

Paula Hall, of Rochdale and District Mind, said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to our event and the Kirkholt Community Church for letting us hold our event with you, such a great venue, we are very grateful.

“We’d also like to say a special thank you for all the support and donation from Littleborough Ladies Circle, Zen Internet, Crown Gas & Power, Rochdale AFC, Tesco Middleton, Greggs, Milnrow Co-op store and Asda Rochdale.

“We’d like to give a special mention to our fundraisers. Without them, events like this couldn’t be held. These individual people and organisations go the extra mile to raise well needed money to help support the upkeep of our charity.

“Their donations will always go into our services for people living in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale.”
