Eligible homeowners encouraged to take up government-led scheme offering a replacement boiler for £395

Installing a new energy efficient boiler could save you around £200 a year on your energy bills

Eligible homeowners in the borough are being encouraged to install a new energy-efficient boiler as part of the government’s Affordable Warmth programme.

Energy provider E.ON is encouraging residents to take up the government offer, replacing a faulty or broken boiler with a A-rated energy efficient gas boiler for only £395 – around £2,000 cheaper than the typical cost of a new fully installed gas boiler.

To be eligible, homeowners must have a faulty or broken boiler and be in receipt of certain benefits which includes income-based jobseeker’s allowance (JSA), income support, working and child tax credits, universal credit or have someone living with them who is. You do not need to be a customer of E.ON to apply.

By installing a new energy efficient boiler, people taking up the offer could save around £200 a year on their energy bills, depending on the type of house and boiler they currently own.

Homeowners who qualify under the programme can also apply to E.ON for free cavity wall and loft insulation. By installing both measures, a typical household could save a further £315 a year on their heating bills and ensure their home is more energy efficient.
