GMP officer arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Hamer stabbing is 'ruled out of enquiries'

A police officer arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Hamer has been ruled out of enquiries.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Halifax Road – near Clayton Street – in Hamer, Rochdale, just after 10pm on Friday (24 September).

A 27-year-old man suffered serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious, but not life-threatening condition, police confirmed.

Three men aged 24, 32 and 53 were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 32-year-old man – a serving GMP officer – was ruled out of enquiries after being questioned.

The 24-year-old and 53-year-old men have been released under investigation.
