Madina Mosque coffee morning raises £400 for Macmillan

Date published: 30 September 2021

A coffee morning at Madina Mosque, Rochdale, has raised £400 for Macmillan cancer support.

Mosque doors were opened to all members of the community on Friday (24 September) to come and have a cup of tea or coffee with a slice of cake whilst donating money to Macmillan.

Bringing millions of people together for coffee and cake each September, Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning has become a British institution over the years – with thousands of events happening up and down the country including in Rochdale.

The coffee morning at Madina was organised by iCare, the national relief department of UKIM (United Kingdom Islamic Mission), which aims to provide financial and practical assistance to those in difficulty and special need.

Speaking after the event, a representative said: “We really enjoyed doing our bit for this year’s Coffee Morning.

“It was great to get people together, have a nibble and a natter and raise money for Macmillan to help people living with cancer at the same time. I want to thank everyone who supported and helped to make it a success.”
