Co-op Funeralcare raise over £300 for Mind with 22km walk

Date published: 16 September 2021

Employees from Co-op Funeralcare in Rochdale and Bury raised £300 for mental health charity Mind with a 22km sponsored walk on 29 August.

The team set off from the Rochdale funeral home on Manchester Road, arriving roughly two hours later at the neighbouring Co-op Funeralcare in Bury, before making their journey back to Rochdale. Through their efforts, the team surpassed their donation target of £150, raising over £300 for Mind to help with the important work they do for those experiencing mental health problems.

Becky Andrew, Funeral Arranger at Co-op Funeralcare in Bury said: “Giving back to our community is a major part of the work that we carry out, and given the hardships we have all experienced during the past 18 months, the incredible work done by Mind has been needed more than ever.

“We were thrilled with the amount of support we received from friends, family, colleagues and local residents, helping us beat our donation target.

“We all want to say ‘thank you’ to Mind for all of the support they have provided those dealing with mental health concerns, loneliness and anxiety during these challenging times.”

The charity partnership with Mind aims to raise substantial funds by engaging Co-op colleagues, members and customers in a range of national and local fundraising.

The amount raised will enable Co-op’s charity partners (Mind, Scottish Association for Mental Health and Inspire) to deliver innovative new services in communities across the UK to ensure people receive the mental health support they need.
