Heywood Charities Fete
Heywood Charities Fete will return to Queen's Park on Sunday 5 September with a day long event for families.
There will be a fairground, fairground stalls, entertainment on the bandstand, a dog show, petting zoo, bouncy castle, food stalls and much more. The bowling club will be running a knock out event with prizes for the adult and children’s teams presented by the Rochdale borough Mayor Aasim Rashid.
There will be lots of community charity stalls, craft stalls and business stalls and its not too late to book a stall.
This year’s event will be free to enter but organisers are asking people to make a donation they can afford. Money collected at the Charities Fete has traditionally been made available to local charities and groups. The event has been a long-standing tradition in Heywood going back to the days of Church Walks.
The gates will be open from 10.30am with the mayor arriving at 1.00pm to officially declare the event open. The mayor’s arrival will be accompanied by the Lee Rigby motorbike riders who will form a cavalcade.
This year's chair of the organising committee is Philip Corns and he has been overseeing all the activities which will be happening on the day. Philip said: “We are looking forward to another fantastic day of family entertainment in Heywood. This year has been tough for everyone and we want to help lift people’s spirits by providing a wholesome old fashioned fun day in the park. We want nothing more than to see the return of family days out especially for those families who have been struggling.”
