Free Pioneer and Co-operation themed activity packs for children available until the end of summer

Date published: 20 August 2021

Free themed activity packs for families are available until the end of the summer holidays from the Rochdale Pioneers Museum on Toad Lane.

Each pack contains an information booklet, a craft or baking activity and the resources to complete the craft.

The activities are suitable for those aged five-11 and feature themes which teach children all about the famous Rochdale Pioneers and the Co-operative movement: Pioneer peg dolls, making a desk tidy with vintage packaging from the Co-op, and Pioneer biscuits recipe and some of the ingredients to make biscuits, inspired by the ingredients the Pioneers first stocked in their shop.

The packs are completely free, funded by YourTrust's 'Cultural Recovery Fund' – the only requirement is to provide your postcode and child’s age when collecting.

However, there are only 25 packs available each week, which will be handed out on a first come, first served basis.

The museum is open 10.30am-4pm Wednesday–Saturday; families are invited to drop in and pick up a pack during the museum’s opening hours. The packs cannot be ordered over the phone.
