A lorry fire has brought the M62 to a standstill this afternoon (4pm Tuesday 29 June).
Highways England has closed the carriageway westbound between junction 22 Denshaw and junction 21 Milnrow.
In a tweet, the North West Motorway Police confirmed that the motorway had been closed due to a HGV fire, whilst highways are working to release traffic trapped between J22 and the scene.
Anyone stuck in the traffic is advised to stay with their vehicle as the emergency services are still making their way through, and the eastbound carriageway is live.
All lanes are closed. Normal traffic conditions are expected between 6.15pm and 6.30pm on 29 June 2021.
As a result of the closure of the #M62 westbound J22-J21, there are delays of 90 minutes above normal journey times, with 10 miles of congestion from J25 - J22. pic.twitter.com/JNPz6Hppdp
