Volunteers honoured at excellence awards

Date published: 27 June 2021

Volunteers from a number of community organisations were recognised at Inspire by SAF’s first annual volunteer excellence awards earlier this month.

Celebrating volunteers across the region who make a difference to the community by donating their time and dedication, attendees included Living Well Community Champions, Soul Sisters - Empowering People, Caring and Sharing and Rochdale Women's Welfare Centre.

Some of the inspirational volunteers to receive awards were Asma Hussain and Rosie Chowdhury.

Each volunteer received a care package and certificates to thank them for their time and dedication to helping others.

Inspire by SAF is a voluntary community support organisation set up and run by Living Well Community Champion Sanya Karim, of Rochdale.

Sanya said: “We, the community, really cannot thank volunteers everywhere enough, for all the hard work they do.”

The organisation offers support with mental health and wellbeing, and also supports the community with employment opportunities and advancement of skills and training.

It currently runs motivation sessions, chats sessions and First Aid Awareness sessions.
