Mobile Covid-19 vaccination unit coming to Kirkholt on Thursday

Date published: 23 June 2021

A new mobile Covid-19 vaccination unit is making its first outing tomorrow, Thursday 24 June, as it visits The Strand Community Hub car park in Kirkholt, Rochdale.

As the vaccine rollout is now open to everyone over the age of 18, the mobile unit is making access to the life-saving vaccine easier for communities across the borough.

The unit will only be administering first doses of the Pfizer vaccine and no appointment is necessary, people can just drop in at any time while the clinic is open.

Philip Massey, ward councillor for Balderstone & Kirkholt, said: "Infection rates in the ward have been rising quickly, and were recently among the highest in the area.

"I’m very grateful to everyone who has arranged to bring this unit to Kirkholt this week. We need everyone over 18 to come down for their first jab this Thursday. It’s the best way of bringing lockdowns and restrictions to an end. It’s the best way of keeping our schools, restaurants and pubs open. But it will only succeed if we all get vaccinated and stop the spread of the virus."

The mobile vaccine unit will be open on Thursday 24 June from 1pm - 3pm at 17 The Strand, Rochdale, OL11 2JG, for anyone over 18 registered with a GP in the borough of Rochdale.

No appointment is necessary.
