Inspirational message from local eight year old

Date published: 30 May 2021

A Year 3 schoolboy at Meanwood Primary School has written some touching words that his mum wants to share with as many people as possible.

Rowan, eight, wrote the inspirational message for his fellow schoolchildren, but didn’t get to take the message in to class due to having to self-isolate.

His mum, Kealey Dermody, said: “Rowan is a beautiful boy, inside and out, and we think these words should be spread to both younger and older people.

“I would love to share this with as many people as possible because his words are very touching, the lesson of being a good person from an eight-year-old. Rowan is such a positive boy who would help anyone.”

Rowan’s message reads: “My name is Rowan. I’m nobody really but I became somebody today!

“You can become somebody too. Wake up happy, always try your best! And be kind.

“Make sure you have fun every day. This is how you become somebody.”
