St Margaret’s Church in Heywood will be able to have its heating repaired, thanks to a donation from Rotary Heywood 2020.
Club secretary, Edwin Partridge, who presented a cheque to the church warden, Stuart Russell, said: “The congregation worked extremely hard to raise funds for repairs to their heating system, but couldn't quite make the whole amount.
“We gave the additional funds required, and the heating has now been repaired.”
Revd Sally Robinson, Vicar of St Margaret’s Church, said: “The grant from Rotary Heywood 2020 came as wonderful news to all of us at St Margaret’s.
“Paying for unexpected building repairs is hard for so many people, businesses and charities right now, and St Margaret’s is no different. We want to keep offering the church building to local people as somewhere warm, safe and welcoming to meet, as more of us start going out again.
“We’ll use this grant towards essential heating repairs, and are very grateful for it.”
Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland is a membership and humanitarian service organisation. Through membership of their local Rotary club, members use their time and talents to make a difference in their own communities and around the world.
There are two clubs in Heywood; Rotary Heywood 2020 and the older Rotary Club of Heywood.
