Snow expected

Date published: 29 December 2020

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow throughout Wednesday evening into Thursday (30 to 31 December).

The warning is in place from 6pm on Wednesday until 2pm on Thursday, although the Met Office says not all areas covered by the warning will see snow and it is not likely that it will snow throughout the entire warning period.

Accumulations of 1-3 cm are most likely, with larger accumulations (most likely 5-10 cm) confined to ground above 200 metres.

Travel may be disrupted.

What to expect

  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
  • Some higher routes across Scotland and northwest England may briefly become impassable early Thursday morning.
