Man dies after being hit by car in Slattocks on Christmas Eve

A 30-year-old man has died after being hit by a car on Rochdale Road in Middleton on Thursday 24 December 2020.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the pedestrian was hit by a grey BMW 320i M Sport at about 7.30pm, near to the Hopwood Arms at Slattocks.

The man was taken to hospital in serious condition but died in hospital some time later.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.

PC Neil Pennington, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was an incredibly tragic collision that has left a family utterly devastated on Christmas Eve and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is on-going and anyone with information, or anyone with dash cam footage, is asked to call 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 2297 of 24/12/2020."
