Mecca Bingo Rochdale staff produced 93 food hampers for vulnerable families
Mecca Bingo Rochdale distributed 93 food hampers from Sparth Community Centre on Thursday 17 December.
With the aim to provide 50 food hampers to vulnerable families across Rochdale this Christmas, the staff at the local Mecca Bingo excelled when nearly double their goal of non-perishable food items were distributed.
Following its nationwide Everyone Deserves a Christmas campaign, Mecca Bingo has revealed it has raised a whopping £185,000 for UK charities and has helped over 3,000 families in need this Christmas by creating hampers filled with food, drink and gift donations from loyal customers and local businesses.
A representative of Mecca Bingo Rochdale said: “The donations have been fantastic. The hampers contained various tins, pasta, sauces and lots more, but we also made up some winter warmer packages alongside the hampers with information leaflets, biscuits, toiletries, tea and coffee, and a few treats.
“Thank you to the staff at Mecca Rochdale and to Garry Buckley and Simone Beasley, plus everyone else who made this happen.
“Mecca Rochdale would like to say thank you and Merry Christmas from all the staff and management.”
The monetary value of the hampers, along with JustGiving contributions and donations from customers, means Mecca has raised a total of £185,208 for charities across the country this Christmas.
Jonathon Swaine, Managing Director of Retail at Mecca Bingo, said: “This hasn’t been an easy year for anyone, but through our Everyone Deserves a Christmas campaign, we’re delighted to be able to help so many families enjoy this festive period with their loved ones. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our fantastic customers and local businesses for their amazing generosity and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.”
