Springhill Hospice gets £1,880 boost from the Masonic Charitable Foundation

Springhill Hospice has been chosen to receive a grant of £1,880 from The Provincial Grand Lodge of East Lancashire.

The grant from comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) who this year are looking to support a number of individual hospices as they work to provide vital care across the UK.

The Freemasons are donating £750,000 in total to 203 hospices across England and Wales in 2020. This includes £300,000 which will be distributed between each hospice that receives less than 60 per cent funding from the NHS.

A further £450,000 will be provided to individual hospices across England and Wales via Hospice UK, the national charity for hospice care.

Contributions from Freemasons to hospices have exceeded £14million in England and Wales since 1984.

Emily Kennedy from Springhill Hospice said: “We’re very grateful to The Provincial Grand Lodge of East Lancashire for their generous grant. As a charity, we rely on generous donations and fundraising for the majority of the funds we need to continue providing our care.

“Grants like this are crucial for us to be able to continue to provide hospice care across the borough. From everyone at Springhill Hospice, thank you to the Lodge and Foundation for their continued support.”

A purpose-built facility which opened in 1989, Springhill Hospice provides skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality across the borough of Rochdale.

It offers specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses through the 16 bed In-Patient Unit, Specialist Community Service, 24-Hour Advice Line and Hospice at Home Care. In addition, Springhill offers Day Hospice services including Complementary Therapies and Bereavement and Counselling Support.
